6 Fall Shoe Trends We Can’t Wait to Start Wearing

Each year, as the seasons alter, design changes along with it. With chillier weather approaching, it’s time to break out sweatshirts, blankets, and all things relaxing– like boots to keep us warm as temperatures drop..

” Shoes are the structure of any clothing, and we’ve seen people gravitating toward footwear that’s useful and durable yet still elegant,” says style specialist Zanna Roberts Rassi. This Fall, we’re seeing shoe trends controlled by traditional staples, like loafers and tennis shoes, as well as some bolder designs, like knee high boots. According to Afterpay, classic knee high boots and chunky loafers are currently increasing in sales in preparation for the chillier months. We had a look at the patterns and scoured this year’s Fall/Winter runways to round up the most trendy shoes for the upcoming fall season.

The 6 Fall Shoe Trends You’ll See Everywhere This Season.

Timeless Loafers.

No matter what year it is, or where you’re going, loafers are constantly a great option. These preppy shoes are formally back in trend this fall, though, and will definitely be seen throughout the season. Whether you’re choosing a slim and light style, or a much heavier lug-sole with hardware, loafers can raise every outfit. If you’re looking for a schoolgirl ambiance throughout the back-to-school months, add a pair of crew or knee-high socks to your preferred pair.

Ankle Booties.

Ankle boots– or booties– are a reliable autumn shoe, and they’re back in style this season. With relatively unlimited options between heeled boots, flat boots, Chelsea boots, and multiple other style alternatives, ankle boots are the ideal match to every attire, from casual to dressy. Booties can be easily coupled with denims, dresses, skirts, or dress trousers, so you’re on-trend wherever you go.

Knee-High Boots.

Regardless of the unwavering appeal of ankle boots, do not hesitate to take it up a notch this season with knee-high and over-the-knee boots. Tall boots are trending all over this year, and complement a lot of staple closet pieces. “They pair magnificently and seamlessly with mini gowns and skinny jeans, bringing us right back to the early 2000s,” says stylist Catherine Bibeau. Whether they’re leather or suede, a set of knee-high boots can include a touch of glamour to your appearance.

Mary Janes.

It’s no question that ballet flats were back in pattern this year, and their timeless nature makes them a pragmatic and dependable shoe for year-round design. This fall, step up your basic ballet flat by choosing a Mary Jane, which offers an extra flexible ambiance. Mary Janes can be casual and flat, or dressy and demure when they’re heeled, and will look great with practically anything.

Biker Boots.

If you’re ready to lean into your edgy side, the fall biker boot pattern is certainly for you. Boots in this design are often leather, either black or dark brown in color, and covered in heavy metal hardware. While these heavy shoes can appear a bit daunting to some, they can be styled casually with jeans or dressed up for a night out with a matching leather skirt. “The combination of durability with a fashion forward edge is flexible and the perfect addition to both casual and more refined attire,” says Bibeau. No matter how you wear them, they’ll certainly make a declaration.

Comfy Sneakers.

Sneakers never ever go out of design, and when it’s time to put away your sandals for the season, a comfortable set of tennis shoes is a necessity. Whether you’re sticking to a pair of classic Nike Air Forces, timeless Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Low Tops, or the cushioned Hoka Bondi Eights, sneakers will continue to be on trend throughout the fall.
